Was It Worth It: “Hole In The Wall”

Expectations going in: Having seen clips of the Japanese game show segment “Brain Wall” throughout the writers strike on the Ellen DeGeneres show and on You Tube, it’s kinda hard not to know what the show is.

Execution: Fox and Fremantle haven’t changed a thing about the show, but put it in English, should that be the language Brooke Burns is speaking. From the silly silver jumpsuits (and for the grand prize, “Dr. Horrible” lab goggles) to the mutant traffic sign poses, it’s what you’d normally expect to see on a Nickelodeon game show, but without any pretense of having any educational value whatsoever. What seems like big prize money for doing the expected gyrations to the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” winds up as about $8,300-$10,00 per person to … not drown.

Worth it?: Unlike “America’s Toughest Jobs,” “Hole In The Wall” is silly, and it’s simple. I don’t know that I’d need to see a 6-disc boxed set, but if it’s on, it’s a cute time-waster. Half hour invested / about 10 minutes of actual game / 3 minutes if you Tivo it.
