Greg McDonald, author of the Fletch series of books, as well as the Flynn series (an even better set of books, in my opinion) dead at 71.

Seriously, don’t let the Chevy Chase movies fool you. The Fletch and Flynn novels are fun mysteries with intriguing characters. They were rereleased a few years ago, and I still see them in bookstores from time to time. Because they are so engaging, they are easy reads, but they are intelligent reads, too (if that makes any sense).
