Serious question to the “30 Rock” fans: Do you find “Kath & Kim” funny?
I ask this because fans of “30 Rock” insist the show is funny, and I’ve yet to find a single laugh anytime I’ve caught the show. In a like manner, “Kath & Kim” was promoted as a laugh-out-loud comedy, and it featured John Michael Higgins and the lovely Selma Blair, both funny people. But “Kath & Kim” wasn’t funny, either… not even a little bit. I can only assume there is a new form of humor, and this form contains a new form of “joke” that I must put in quotes so as to call attention to the fact no prior definition of joke applies.
Ten minutes into the show, I’d given up the idea I might actually laugh, and was only continuing to watch in the hope Selma Blair took off her clothes. Fifteen minutes into the show, I remembered the show was on NBC and, thus, Selma’s clothes would remain on, so I turned off the show.
All I can do is assume there is a whole style (maybe a sub-style or sub-genre) of sitcom which is, if not unfunny, at least funny on a level that escapes me. A lot of people find “30 Rock” funny, and it is those people I am addressing. Do you find “Kath & KIm” funny in the same way you find “30 Rock” funny, and, if so, would you explain it in such a way that I could understand the basis for this new form of comedy?

I hate to admit it but I think I related. I laughed hysterically. Thought the cast was great. Loved that guy Mikey Day. I’m so glad Selma is on TV. Maybe you just have to relate to the whole crazy love/hate mother-daughter dynamic.

This show is absolute crap and will be cancelled in three episodes. That guy who plays the husband is the worst actor on the planet and Selma Blair isn’t much better
