Dancing with the Shannen

The Post Script

Middle America has spoken. As usual, it was difficult to understand Middle America, given its deep, Southern accent and the fact that most of its teeth are missing. Shannen Doherty has been voted off the dance floor. I don’t know what more can be said.

I certainly hope Shannen’s appearance on “Dancing With The Stars” (and the publicity that surrounded it) boosted her visibility, and that it will, in turn, lead to bigger and better things. I know she has a book in the works entitled “Bad Ass,” which I assume is not a children’s book.

One can’t help but wonder if Shannen can now put the world of celebreality behind her. What began with “Scare Tactics,” continued on with “Breakin Up,” and culminated with “Dancing With The Stars” has been a cavalcade of Shannen doing things other than acting. There is an old adage in Hollywood, “Let Johnny tell the jokes.” Enough of this reality crap; let Shannen act. And let her act in neither a series produced by the late Aaron Selling’s company nor a made-for-TV movie.

In other words, I sincerely wish Shannen Doherty finds herself a starring vehicle that is watchable — something that challenges viewers and offends the delicate sensibilities of Middle America.

Failing that, if she could at least continue to show off her legs, I guess that’d be OK, too.
